Tunisia have reportedly dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the team’s heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Reports suggest the decision was made after an emergency meeting by the Tunisian Football Federation, with concerns growing over the team’s recent performances.

Lamouchi had only taken charge earlier this year and managed just one victory during his short spell with the national team. Tunisia’s World Cup campaign got off to a disastrous start as Sweden dominated the Group F encounter, leaving the North African side facing an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout stage.

The federation is now expected to appoint an interim coach ahead of Tunisia’s next World Cup fixture as it looks to revive the team’s fortunes and restore confidence among supporters.
