With Dak Prescott season ending and Andy Dalton being placed on the COVID-19 reserve list, Mike McCarthy announced that rookie Ben DiNucci will not be the starting quarterback against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

DiNucci was pretty bad in his first game, and seem to be well over his head at this level.

This leaves McCarthy in a conundrum as to who will have offences duties.

He seems to be letting Garrett Gilbert and Cooper Rush battle it out in practice to earn the job. But they aren’t even on the Cowboys’ 55-man roster at the start of the season.

The decision was made to go with the two experienced quarterbacks, but Gilbert has appeared in a total of 6 games since being drafted while Rush who joined the Cowboys in 2017 as an undrafted free agent and has thrown just 3 passes in a NFL game.

Playing the unbeaten Steelers and their terrific defense is quite a challenge, the Cowboys’ difficult season could get even worse.
