Jameson Taillon Placed on Injured List Following Hamstring Injury
The Chicago Cubs have suffered a setback in their starting rotation after veteran pitcher Jameson Taillon was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Taillon exited Sunday’s game against the San Francisco Giants in the second inning after experiencing discomfort while on the mound. The right-hander was unable to continue and later indicated that an injured list stint was likely as the Cubs awaited further medical evaluation.
The Cubs officially moved Taillon to the injured list this week, creating uncertainty around a pitching staff that has already dealt with several injury concerns throughout the season. Manager Craig Counsell confirmed that imaging would determine the severity of the strain and provide a clearer recovery timeline.
Before the injury, Taillon had made 13 starts for Chicago in 2026, posting a 2-5 record with a 5.19 ERA. Despite some inconsistent results this season, the veteran remains an important piece of the Cubs’ rotation due to his experience and ability to provide innings.
Chicago will now look to its pitching depth as it navigates Taillon’s absence. The club is hopeful that the injury is not serious and that the 34-year-old can return to action later this summer.
