Manchester United might finally be getting their man.

After chasing Carlos Baleba for what feels like forever, the transfer saga has suddenly taken a serious turn. United have reportedly made a £65 million offer for the Brighton midfielder, and negotiations are now at an advanced stage.

But the biggest clue may have come from Brighton themselves.

👀 Brighton Aren’t Saying No

Brighton chief executive Paul Barber was asked about the growing speculation surrounding Baleba and Manchester United.

His response?

“Let’s see where we go.”

That’s not exactly the kind of response United fans would have heard a year ago.

Brighton previously put a huge price tag on Baleba and were determined to keep him. Now, with United pushing hard and the two clubs negotiating, the door appears to be much more open.

United Have Already Made Their Move

Reports say United’s latest offer is worth around £60 million up front, plus £5 million in add-ons.

Baleba has also reportedly agreed personal terms with United and is expected to sign a five-year contract if the clubs finish the agreement.

So this isn’t just United being interested anymore.

They’re actually trying to get the deal done.

And There’s a Crazy Twist

Remember when Brighton reportedly wanted around £100 million-plus for Baleba?

United walked away.

Now, just one year later, they’re reportedly getting close to a deal for considerably less than that figure.

That’s potentially a massive piece of business for United.

Of course, there’s a reason the price has dropped.

Baleba’s form dipped last season, and he’s currently recovering from an ankle injury.

But United clearly still believe the player they wanted a year ago is still in there.

Why Does United Want Him So Badly?

Simple.

Their midfield needs him.

With Casemiro gone, United need someone who can provide energy, defensive strength and physicality in the middle of the pitch.

Baleba fits that profile.

At just 22, he also gives United something they’ve desperately needed in recent years — youth with room to grow.

He wouldn’t be arriving as a finished product.

He’d be arriving as a player United believe could become one of the league’s best midfielders.

So… Is It Actually Happening?

It certainly looks closer than it ever has.

The clubs are negotiating.

United have made a substantial offer.

Personal terms are reportedly agreed.

And Brighton’s public messaging doesn’t sound like the door is slammed shut anymore.

But until the two clubs agree on the final fee and structure, it’s not done yet.

And United fans have learned the hard way that transfers can fall apart right at the finish line.

Still…

After more than a year of chasing Baleba, Manchester United might finally be getting their chance.

Did Brighton just give United the green light?

It sure sounds like it. 👀
