The Washington Football Team couldn’t make a deal with guard Brandon Scherff before the franchise-tag time limit.

“I’m just glad I get to play another year here,” Scherff said via the team’s official website. “I said my end goal is to end up as a (Washington Football) player my whole career, and I’m one more year closer to that. I’m just excited for this year.”

The three-time Pro Bowler is to earn $15.03 million on the franchise tag in 2020.

The 28-year-old’s desire to play his whole career for one team is commendable, but it will all comes down to whether Washington pays him to do so.
