Zlatan Ibrahimovic has always had a lot to say, but part of what makes him so unique is his capacity to follow up all the daringness, most boastful comments through results.
It’s something he maintained with surprising regularity throughout the 2020-21 season that saw him score 14 goals in just 12 league games to spearhead AC Milan’s own unlikely struggle at the top of Serie A – all at the age of 39.
His perennial contributions also saw him join the elite community as a scorer of 500 club career goals.
This weekend, the Swedish striker will be squarely on the radar for good reasons and bad (more on that in a bit) as AC faces Inter in a Milan derby that may well help form the story of the current Italian top-flight title battle.
Usually straight-styled, he said that Milan would have won the league if he had played the whole season, adding that he was “just warming up”.
