Now 6-time Europa League cup holders Sevilla FC won the tournament thanks to a 3-2 victory over Inter Milan in a thrilling final in Cologne.
The drama started when Sevilla defender Diego Carlos fouled Romelu Lukaku for an Inter penalty.
Lukaku (5′ pen) dispatched the penalty kick, but a brace from Luuk de Jong (12′,33′) gave Sevilla the lead.
This wasn’t to last has Diego Godin scored for Inter to make it 2-2 in the 35th minute.
The high tempo of the first half died down, both teams created their chances, but with extra-time looming, there was one final twist.
In the 74th minute, Carlos the villain then turned hero has he flew into the air to meet a high ball with an overhead kick which was probably going wide until Lukaku stuck out a leg and diverted it past his own goalkeeper.
