The postponement of plans for fans to return to sporting events in England may have a devastating financially impact on many clubs.

A lot of clubs were already having financial difficulties before the pandemic started and this may tip some of them over the edge.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said plans for some fans to return from 1 October will not go ahead.

The Premier League said it was disappointed and an unsustainable move by the government.

With a rise in coronavirus cases and the UK’s COVID-19 alert level moving to 4, pilot events that started in September which had already been restricted to 1,000 people, are now on hold.
