England have made a late change to their 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, with Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah set to replace the injured Tino Livramento ahead of the Three Lions’ opening match against Croatia.

Livramento suffered a calf injury during training, ruling him out of the tournament just days before England’s first Group L fixture. FIFA regulations allow teams to replace injured players up to 24 hours before their opening match, giving England manager Thomas Tuchel the opportunity to bring in Chalobah from the preliminary squad.

The decision reunites Chalobah with Tuchel, who handed the defender his breakthrough at Chelsea and has long trusted his versatility across the back line. While some fans expected England to call up a natural right-back, Tuchel has instead opted for a player he knows well as England prepare for one of the biggest tournaments in football.

Now, all eyes will be on Chalobah as he gets an unexpected opportunity to help England chase World Cup glory after receiving one of the most important call-ups of his career.
