The Philadelphia 76ers are already making noise before the 2026-27 NBA season even begins.
They have LeBron James.

They have Joel Embiid.
And now they’ve brought in a player who is somehow even taller than Victor Wembanyama.

Tacko Fall is back in the NBA.
The 7-foot-6 center has signed with the 76ers and will join the team for training camp.

And now Tacko Fall enters the picture.
The Sixers clearly aren’t sitting around waiting for the season to start.
They’re adding size.
They’re adding depth.
And they’re giving themselves more options.
๐ฃ BUT DON’T CALL TACKO THE WEMBY STOPPER YET
Here’s where we need to pump the brakes.
Fall hasn’t made the regular-season roster yet.
His deal is an Exhibit 10 contract, which means he’ll participate in training camp and compete for a spot.
So this isn’t Philadelphia officially saying:
“We signed Tacko Fall specifically to stop Wembanyama.”
There’s no confirmation of that.
But the timing certainly makes the storyline fun.
And NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins has already joked that “Wemby is to blame” for the move.
That should tell you how quickly this story caught fire.
๐งฑ PHILLY ACTUALLY NEEDS SIZE
There’s another reason Fall’s signing makes sense.
The Sixers don’t have a ton of proven depth behind Joel Embiid.
Philadelphia currently has young centers Adem Bona and Ariel Hukporti behind Embiid.
That’s where Fall could potentially become useful.
He’s enormous.
He has NBA experience.
And he’s spent the last several years playing professionally overseas.
The Sixers don’t necessarily need him to become a superstar.
They may simply want another massive body who can protect the rim, set screens and provide some size when Embiid isn’t on the floor.
๐ฎโ๐จ TACKO HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Fall hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season, when he appeared for Cleveland.
Before that, he spent time with the Boston Celtics.
Now he’s getting another opportunity at age 30.
That’s a pretty impressive comeback.
After leaving the NBA, Fall continued his career overseas, including time in China and New Zealand.
Last season with the Ningbo Rockets in China, he averaged 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in limited playing time.
So Philadelphia isn’t bringing him in because he’s suddenly dominating the league.
They’re bringing him in because seven-foot-six is seven-foot-six.
And that’s something you can’t teach.
๐ NOW IMAGINE THIS…
Picture a playoff game.
LeBron James brings the ball up.
Jaylen Brown is on the wing.
Joel Embiid is battling inside.
And standing somewhere near the basket is…
Tacko Fall.
That would be one ridiculous-looking lineup.
But then imagine the other side.
Wembanyama walks onto the court.
Suddenly, the Sixers have someone who is actually taller than him.
Would Fall be able to slow Wemby down?
That’s a completely different question.
Height alone doesn’t stop Wembanyama.
The Spurs star can shoot from deep, handle the ball and move far better than most players his size.
So simply putting a giant on him isn’t exactly a guaranteed solution.
๐ BUT THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT INTERESTING
The NBA is becoming increasingly obsessed with size and versatility.
Wembanyama is the perfect example.
He’s enormous but can move like a guard.
Teams are constantly looking for ways to make life difficult for him.
And now Philadelphia has added the tallest player in this particular conversation.
Whether Tacko actually makes the roster remains to be seen.
But the matchup possibilities are hilarious.
Wemby vs. Tacko.

That’s something basketball fans would absolutely want to see.
๐ฅ THE LEBRON FACTOR
Of course, the biggest name in this story remains LeBron.
This isn’t the same LeBron who dominated the NBA 10 years ago.
He’s entering his 23rd NBA season.
But he’s still chasing another championship.
And Philadelphia clearly believes he can help them get there.
James said he believes he can help make the 76ers a championship team when he announced his move to Philadelphia.
Adding Brown and now bringing in Fall only makes the experiment more interesting.
The Sixers aren’t hiding their ambition.
They’re trying to win.

That’s the wild part.
Right now, Tacko Fall has something to prove.
He has to make the team.
He has to show that his size can actually translate into useful NBA minutes.
He has to convince the coaching staff that he belongs.
But if he does?
Suddenly, Philadelphia has a 7-foot-6 option in the frontcourt.
And if the Sixers eventually meet San Antonio in the playoffs…
