For a while, it felt like Bruno Fernandes was always one bad season away from being shown the door at Manchester United.

Now?

United don’t even want to hear the offers.

Reports today say Manchester United are prepared to reject any approach for their captain, despite serious interest from Galatasaray. The Turkish club is reportedly considering a bid of around €50 million, while other reports say they could offer Fernandes a huge salary package.

United’s response has been pretty simple:

Bruno isn’t for sale.

And honestly, after what he did last season, it’s difficult to argue with them.

Bruno Is Coming Off a Huge Season

Fernandes wasn’t just good last season.

He was arguably United’s most important player.

The Portuguese midfielder broke the Premier League’s single-season assist record, finishing with 21 assists. He was also named the club’s Player of the Season and played a major role in United returning to the Champions League.

That’s a pretty big turnaround for a player who has spent plenty of time being criticized during United’s difficult years.

And now that United finally look like they’re heading in the right direction, they’re not interested in starting over without him.

Galatasaray Have Other Ideas

Galatasaray aren’t exactly making a quiet approach.

The Turkish champions are reportedly willing to put together a massive financial package to convince Fernandes to leave Manchester.

Some reports claim they could offer him a four-year deal with significantly higher wages than he’s currently earning.

There’s also interest from AC Milan and Juventus, according to reports.

But United aren’t entertaining any of it.

And there’s an important reason why.

Fernandes is entering the final year of his contract, although United have an option for another season. A release clause that reportedly allowed overseas clubs to sign him for around £57 million has also expired.

That gives United considerably more control over the situation.

Remember What Happened Last Year?

This is where things get interesting.

Fernandes previously revealed that he was hurt after United made it clear he could accept a huge offer from Saudi Arabia last summer.

He ultimately stayed.

And now, just one year later, the message from United couldn’t be more different.

They’re basically saying:

We’re not selling you.

That’s a pretty significant change.

But There’s Still a Question About His Future

United refusing to sell Fernandes this summer doesn’t necessarily mean his long-term future is completely settled.

He’s 31 and entering the final year of his current contract.

There have also been reports that Fernandes could reassess his situation after the 2026 World Cup.

So while United are determined to keep him right now, the contract situation is something they’ll eventually have to deal with.

And considering how important he’s become to Michael Carrick’s team, allowing the situation to drift would be risky.

United Can’t Afford to Lose Him

Think about it.

United are finally coming off a season where they looked like a serious football team again.

They’re back in the Champions League.

They’re building around a younger squad.

And Fernandes is still the player expected to make things happen.

Take him out of that team and suddenly Carrick has a massive problem.

You can’t just replace 21 Premier League assists with a quick transfer.

That’s why United’s stance makes sense.

Maybe Bruno Finally Has His Answer

For years, Fernandes has been one of the easiest players to criticize at Old Trafford.

Sometimes deservedly.

Sometimes not.

But now United have made their position very clear.

They don’t want to sell him.

Not to Galatasaray.

Not to Juventus.

Not to anyone.

After everything Fernandes has given the club during some pretty miserable years, maybe this is finally United admitting just how important he really is.

The question now isn’t whether Bruno Fernandes should leave.

It’s whether Manchester United can convince him that his future belongs at Old Trafford.

And if they can?

Keeping their captain could end up being one of the most important decisions they make all summer.
